Thyra was educated at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Together with Tal R, John Kørner, Suzette Gemzøe, Kirstine Reupstoff, Kasper Bonnén, and other significant Copenhagen-based artists, she studied under professor and painter Claus Carstensen.
